Bob was born in 1947 in Hastings, Nebraska, but presently lives and practices law in Agua Dulce, California. He graduated from Loyola University School of Law in Los Angeles in 1973 with a doctorate degree. Prior to that, he completed his undergraduate studies at Loyola's Westchester campus with a major in political science and a minor in English. He was also a member of the Jesuit Universities Alpha Sigma Nu Society for academic excellence.
Until 1986, he resided with his family and practiced law in Torrance, California. His Torrance firm (consisting of two associate attorneys and three paralegal/secretary staff members) was highly regarded for both its level of legal proficiency and caring service for clients. Bob was also very active in civic affairs through the Torrance city council, the Chamber of Commerce, his neighborhood homeowners' association and Rotary International as well as Toastmasters. He also co-chaired a Christian couple's group and couple's retreat with his wife, Wanda, through their church.
However, in November of 1986, he chose to dissolve his Torrance firm and returned to solo practice by moving his young family to the open spaces and high desert living of Agua Dulce where he could spend more time with his kids in soccer, baseball and other activities. The focus of his life are his wife and three children (a married daughter/schoolteacher, a second daughter who works as his legal secretary while pursuing her master's degree as a biblical counselor; and son completing his college studies with a focus on psychiatry and accounting). His other interests include golf, backpacking and "puttering" around his five acre "country spread".
Bob's professional focus and legal strength are in estate planning (with Loving Trusts) and intricate real estate issues. Using those strengths and his emphasis on client service, he built a new practice in Agua Dulce of associate attorneys and a quality support staff with clients throughout California and several states, but then in 2003 downsized to solo practice in order to create time for Bible-based estate planning, a discipleship ministry and Christian mediation services.
As part of his intent to focus on those functions, he became a founding member of the Wealthcounsel National Association of Estate Planning Attorneys, established a mediation service and initiated the formation of a non-profit Christian ministry. The Wealthcounsel is an association of attorneys across the nation providing the highest quality of probate avoidance, estate tax savings, asset protection and personalized loving care for their clients through comprehensive estate planning and team work with other professionals such as life insurance agents, accountants and financial planners to which Bob has added a biblical perspective and emphasis.
The pleasure of working with families of every type and number to provide assistance and guidance through both financial and loving estate planning (in a biblical manner) is a joy that Bob adamantly pursues! In doing so, he strives to educate individuals and organizations about the benefits of good estate planning through seminars as a guest speaker, his numerous writings, this website and his monthly newsletter.
